Although Tomorrowland was originally canceled this year due to Covid-19, the mega electronic dance music festival is back on the summer events calendar and heading to Dubai this weekend in an unexpected way. Promising an all-new virtual concert experience built around the theme of global unity, “Tomorrowland: Around the World” is partnering with local organizations to host exclusive streaming events in more than 150 countries around the world—including the UAE. Longtime and new “People of Tomorrow” can head to Dubai Festival City this weekend as part of Dubai Summer Surprises to watch the infamous EDM event digitally unfold in a spectacle of 3D technology, video production, and special effects.
The two-day festival spread across July 25 and 26 will feature a star-studded lineup of some of the biggest names in the electronic dance music circuit, from Steve Aoki and Martin Garrix to David Guetta and Tiesto. Special guest star Katy Perry will also be performing tracks from her upcoming album on the mainstage as an exclusive treat. Beginning at 6 pm UAE time and ending at 2 am the following day, get ready for two all-nighters packed with unforgettable mixes and interactive events including webinars, games, and workshops for back-to-back evenings of non-stop excitement. Top leaders from various industries, such as basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal and Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.I.Am, will also share their inspiring journeys in special sessions available to all attendees throughout the weekend.
While Tomorrowland traditionally takes place on larger-than-life stages across Belgium, the 2020 edition will not only include the festival’s five regular gateways magically transporting fans to the heights of outer space and the depths of hidden caves but also three new themed platforms especially designed by 3D artists and creatives. Tomrrowland’s trademark fireworks and vibrantly-colored laser shows will also illuminate the screens at the online event. “For us, it’s a bit re-inventing the festival experience, but we truly believe that we can bring the spirit of Tomorrowland and entertainment at the highest level to people and homes around the globe,” said Tomorrowland co-founder Michiel Beers in a statement, adding “This weekend is all about uniting through the power of music in a responsible and safe way.”
As the world’s first socially-distanced music festival and the first major festival of the season to be held in the wake of the pandemic, venues are set to abide by certain safety and distancing standards. In Dubai, festival-goers will be assigned their own dedicated area in the expansive Festival Arena while table service for food and beverages will be provided to avoid lineups in queues. Tickets must be purchased on a group basis instead of individually as tables of four, six, eight, and 10 have been allocated throughout the arena with special refreshment options available for bookings of 10. Make a weekend out of it and opt for one of the staycation packages to enjoy a night at the adjoining InterContinental DFC.
Tomorrowland: Around the World is on Saturday, July 25 to Sunday, July 26 at the Festival Arena in Dubai Festival City. From AED 1,000 per table of four; tickets available here.
