Expo 2020 Dubai has announced that Coldplay will be performing live at the venue’s Al Wasl Plaza on February 15 at 9pm GST. The Fix You band, whose lead vocalist is Chris Martin, will be playing an Infinite Nights concert at the expo following on from other major acts that have taken the stage over the last few months such as Alicia Keys and Black Eyed Peas.

Although no tickets need to be purchased for the show specifically and entry will be granted with only a valid Expo 2020 ticket, entrance will be limited so you will need to pre-register for the event on February 12 through this link.

The official announcement was made via the expo’s Instagram account with a video of Coldplay performing under the Al Wasl dome surrounded by a space-like background, performing their hit track ‘Coloratura’. The band’s unique initiatives and commitment to the environment make it an ideal fit for the event, and its sub-theme of sustainability. In a statement, Coldplay said, “As a band, we always try to put togetherness and sustainability at the heart of everything we do. It’s an honor to be invited to perform at Expo 2020 Dubai Infinite Nights for a special celebration of these two themes.”

HE Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister for International Cooperation and Director General, Expo 2020 Dubai, said, “I warmly welcome Coldplay’s mission to drive awareness and action and to show how we all have the power to make a difference. This is true whether as a government, a business or as an individual and in the 11 million visitors who have experienced Expo 2020 so far, we have witnessed a collective desire to drive towards a cleaner, safer and healthier world for all.”

The band’s debut performance at the world fair also makes sense since Coldplay has performed in the country on a number of occasions, including on New Year’s Eve in Abu Dhabi in 2016. Most recently, Martin serenaded a private group of attendees after Armani’s One Night only event in Dubai.
