The world’s biggest theatrical production, Cirque du Soleil is set to make its debut in Abu Dhabi. The first show, Bazzar is the Montreal-based entertainment company’s 43rd original production and has been around since 1984.
The performance which will be held on Yas Island from March 6-16 is the biggest production that event organizers Alchemy Project have ever done in the region. “We are tremendously proud to bring Bazzar, the latest Cirque du Soleil production, to Abu Dhabi audiences,” said Alchemy Project managing director Sia S Far in a statement. “Bazzar is the biggest touring show in Alchemy Project’s history through 6 countries, 3 continents, over 210 touring days.”
Bazzar will feature a troupe of acrobats, dancers, and musicians decked out in enthralling costumes and showcasing stunts such as fire-breathing and contortion underneath a purpose-built Big Top that can seat 1,500 people on the man-made island.
And UAE audiences aren’t the only ones that get to enjoy a spell-binding show from the Canadian stage behemoth. Following its UAE debut, Alchemy Project will take Bazaar to Oman, Greece, Turkey, and Egypt. Additionally, the Montreal-based dance troupe is set to land in Saudi Arabia from December 17-29 to present 17 performances of Toruk, The First Flight, a show inspired by the James Cameron film Avatar in Riyadh’s Granada Mall.
It won’t be the first time that Cirque du Soleil comes to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The entertainment company recently performed a special show for the country’s National Day in the country’s capital Riyadh on September 23. Featuring more than 80 artists wearing 250 costumes on a 300-foot stage, it was “one of the largest productions ever created for a single performance by Cirque du Soleil,” the company said.
Tickets for Cirque du Soleil Bazzar start at AED/SAR 195 and can be purchased at Tixbox.com.
