Paris has one more sparkling gem in its crown with the opening of Cheval Blanc, the latest offering from LVMH, and the first five-star accommodation offering in the city from the fashion conglomerate.  It joins its sister hotels in Saint-Tropez, St-Barth Isle de France, the Maldives, and Courchevel. Located in the heart of Paris in an area filled with history, culture, and creativity, the hotel overlooks the banks of the Seine and Pont Neuf, the oldest bridge in the French capital, and is close to the new Samaritaine department store.

The art deco building, which was designed by Henri Sauvage in  1928 and now reworked by Peter Marino and Édouard François,  stays true to its vibrant history while adding fresh perspectives,  such as reflective glass panels and mineral tones highlighted by a  wall of straw marquetry by Lison de Caunes. Also on show are art installations from a variety of creatives, including André Dubreuil’s sculptural furniture. Art and bespoke pieces are dotted around for your discovering pleasure, including paintings by Vik Muniz and  Sonia Delaunay and pieces from sculptor Philippe Anthonioz.

With only 72 rooms and suites, Cheval Blanc promises the feeling of being at home, with each guest experience tailor-made.  Luxuriously comfortable and sun-filled spaces are just some of the highlights of the new space, where you are spoiled for choice with a  selection of Dior care products, ranging from creams, bath salts, and pebbles to shampoos and hair and face masks. One of the central attractions is the expansive L’Appartment, which spans the eighth and ninth floors and combines the lush Ravel and Quintessence  Suites. It has its own pool complete with a panoramic terrace, seven bedrooms, fitness room, treatment room, hammam, and sauna, as well as a private entrance. The hotel also has a curved infinity pool with artisan mosaics by Michael Mayerpool and the cocooning Dior Spa Cheval Blanc, where you can enjoy signature treatments in one of six Dior suites. Try one of the exclusive sapphire crystal micro-abrasion treatments for a touch of Parisian radiance. At Rossano Ferretti Salon, the Italian-born hair artist, and his team of stylists are masters of the invisible cut, Ferretti’s signature technique for casual elegance. The stylists can also transform your room into a boudoir so you can be pampered in luxury and privacy.

The culinary enthusiast needs to look no further, as Cheval Blanc guarantees artisanal gourmet experiences. Contemporary brasserie Le Tout-Paris is always buzzing, offering open-air lunch or dinner under the stars. At Plénitude, chef Arnaud Donckele explores traditional French cuisine in refreshing new ways, while Langosteria presents the freshest fish and seafood with an Italian touch. Limbar is for those with a discerning dessert palate, with pastry chef Maxime Frédéric dreaming up patisserie with vision and imagination. As for the unique fragrance wafting through Cheval Blanc, woody and powdery notes welcome the visitor with Parisian chic. It was imagined by Dior master perfumer François Demachy, who created bespoke scents for the hotel. “How to interpret Paris through a perfume?” he says. “That was the question I asked myself, and very quickly, the idea of making two fragrances became obvious as the city is so multifaceted.”
