Burj Khalifa’s NYE 2022 Show Will Be Bigger Than Ever Before—Here’s How to Watch It

It’s that time of the year again, when the Burj Khalifa will draw people from near and far to view its spectacular New Year’s Eve show. The one-of-a-kind experience offered by the tallest building ever has previously broken the world record for the longest set of consecutive fireworks. To ring in 2020, the building was lit up with animation, light, and sounds, alongside a synchronized fountain show, and for the main event, eight minute and 43 second-long fireworks. In typical Dubai fashion, Burj Khalifa’s plans to welcome 2022 have been set on a much grander scale this year, which marked the UAE’s 50th anniversary.

Announced by developer Emaar, the upcoming show is titled the ‘Eve of Wonder’, and promises to be “bigger and brighter than ever.” While the duration of the show is yet to be revealed, viewers can expect a new laser feature to make its debut at the Dubai Fountain, in sync with the usual state-of-the-art pyrotechnics that are fired from the side of the building. The show is slated to start from 11:58pm on December 31, however, the Burj Khalifa’s facade will treat those waiting with celebratory light projections and messages prior to that.

Since the show is expected to bring together thousands, Emaar advises using the U by Emaar app for crowd control. Those who want to view the show in person must log on to the app and pre-register for a spot, which they can access only via the individual QR codes sent. The main event and the pre-show will also be livestreamed from 8:30pm on mydubainewyear.com.

Mohamed Alabbar, founder of Emaar, stated: “The UAE, and Dubai, inspire hope and optimism, and bring together a global community to shape the future. This year’s celebration is a tribute to our nation’s achievements in the past 50 years. It also highlights our leadership’s vision to create a new age of progress through openness and collaboration, and Emaar is proud to be part of it.”
