The drama between Britney Spears and Kevin Federline, her ex-husband and the father of her two sons, Preston, 16, and Jayden, 15, continues to play out in public.
On September 1, the Daily Mail published quotes from a forthcoming ITV interview between Jayden, Kevin, and Daphne Barak.
“I 100% think this can be fixed,” Jayden tells Barak, referring to his and his brother’s relationship with their mom, per the Mail. “It’s just going to take a lot of time and effort. I just want her to get better mentally. When she gets better I really want to see her again.”
He then addresses her directly: “I love you a lot, I hope for the best for you. Maybe one day we can sit down like this and talk again.”
Both Jayden and Preston, along with their father, have been publicly critical of Spears’s role as a mother in recent weeks. The boys did not attend her wedding to Sam Asghari back in June and have apparently not seen Spears in months, preferring to live with Federline. Last month Federline posted videos of Spears appearing to argue with her children to Instagram, writing in the caption that it was his and the boys’ decision to publicly air their private moments. The videos have since been removed from the platform.
Spears, who has previously addressed her relationship with her sons in Instagram posts, responded to Jayden’s interview with a Notes App message published on the platform.
She writes that the love she has for her children “has no boundaries and it deeply saddens me to know his outcry of saying I wasn’t up to his expectations as a mother.”

Spears chalks up any perceived parental negligence to the pressure to be “perfect” while under conservatorship and adds that she carried four tours, judged X Factor, and “WAAAY more” in order to provide for her children. She added, “I helped your father who hasn’t had a job in 15 years” and alleges that Federline smokes every day. “Tell your father to go try and at least mow the lawn…”
Asghari commented on Spears’s post: “Mowing the lawn > professional baby daddy.”
To Preston, who was not quoted in the interview, she adds, “Since Preston didn’t speak, I send my love!!!” and followed with words of encouragement for his piano playing.
