Britney Spears Says ‘Thanks But No Thanks’ to a Biopic

Britney Spears is still alive, kicking, and happy to tell her own story. The pop star, whose memoir will hit the shelves as soon as paper becomes available, recently responded to the idea of a biopic about her with a resounding “nah.”

“I hear about people wanting to do movies about my life … dude I’m not dead !!!” the “Toxic” singer wrote on Instagram in a caption that was otherwise about her parents. She posted the statement a day after Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown told Drew Barrymore that she’d like to play Spears in a movie someday.

“I want to play a real person, and I think for me, it would be Britney Spears. I think her story, first of all, resonates with me,” the Enola Holmes star said on Barrymore’s show, per People. “Just growing up in the public eye, watching her videos, watching interviews of her when she was younger. I mean, same thing with you. I see the scramble for words [in her interviews] and I don’t know her, but when I look at pictures of her, I feel like I could tell her story in the right way and hers only.”

In true Britney Spears fashion, she didn’t mention Brown or Barrymore by name but celebrated her life and admitted to her, let’s say, enthusiastic use of social media. “Good news, good news !!! Still breathing,” she wrote, which is probably not a reference to the opening lines of Wicked (“Good news, good news, she’s dead”), but could be! “Yeah I know I’ve posted too much this week on Instagram 😬🙈 … kinda fun though !!! Now that I’m breathing … I have time … it’s different !!! I like it !!!” the star continued.

The other good news is that there are plenty of famouses Brown could bring to life. Off the top of my head I’m thinking Amy Winehouse, Marie Curie, Jennifer Aniston, or Judy Garland. And she already has Halsey’s blessing for a Halsey movie, if anyone wants that.
