The Britney Spears-Justin Timberlake feud has been seemingly reignited once again.
Britney Spears‘ relationship with former partner Justin Timberlake has returned to the spotlight since the popstar opened up about it in her bombshell memoir The Woman in Me. Released late last year, the book and some of its revelations resulted in a negative public opinion of Timberlake, who dated Spears for three years from 1999. Now, Timberlake has broken his silence and seemingly addressed the reflections in the book at his birthday concert on Wednesday. According to concertgoers, Timberlake said, “I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize to absolutely nobody” before singing ‘Cry Me a River’.
The bold declaration did not go unnoticed by Spears, who appears to have responded to it via an Instagram post on Thursday. Captioning a picture of a basketball hoop, she wrote, “Someone told me someone was talking s—- about me on the streets!!! Do you want to bring it to the court or will you go home crying to your mom like you did last time??? I’m not sorry!!!” This is not the first time Spears has addressed Timberlake while speaking about her memoir. Just earlier this week, she took to Instagram to say, “I wanna apologize for some of the things I wrote about in my book. If I offended any of the people I genuinely care about, I am deeply sorry.” In the since-deleted post, the 42-year-old star also went on to praise Timberlake’s new song, ‘Selfish’, commenting that it is “soo good”. It is also worth noting that Spears’ statement came after her fans caused her own 2011 song ‘Selfish,’ to rise on the charts that week, beating Timberlake’s in the process.
Some of the bombshells in Spears’ best-selling memoir include her talking about her split from Timberlake, and the public’s reaction to it. “In the news media, I was described as a harlot who’d broken the heart of America’s golden boy,” she recalled. “The truth: I was comatose in Louisiana, and he was happily running around Hollywood. May I just say that on his explosive album and in all the press that surrounded it, Justin neglected to mention the several times he’d cheated on me? There’s always more leeway in Hollywood for men than for women.”
