Congratulations are in order for Britney Spears. The superstar announced her engagement on Instagram last night, flashing her ring alongside her Iranian fiancé, personal trainer Sam Asghari. People reports that the ring—a floating solitaire diamond—was engraved with the word “Lioness,” Asghari’s nickname for Spears.
Asghari confirmed the news with his own Instagram in which Spears flashed her ring in the foreground while the couple kissed in the background. In both photos, Spears’s nails were adorned with a red French manicure, coordinating with her flame-hued hair.

Spears and Asghari began dating in 2016, after they met on the set of Spears’s “Slumber Party” music video. As Spears faced the trauma of her conservatorship and her fans urged the court to #FreeBritney, Asghari voiced his support of her in a statement to People: “I am thankful for all of the love and support she is receiving from her fans all over the world, and I am looking forward to a normal, amazing future together.”
