After months without a public appearance together, the famous British royal foursome reunited for the annual Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance Service on November 9 as part of the remembrance events taking place in the United Kingdom over the past few days and throughout the weekend. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as well as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined Queen Elizabeth II and the Prince of Wales at the Royal Albert Hall Saturday evening for the service honoring those who sacrificed their lives in war ahead of Remembrance Sunday in their first public sighting as an entire family since July. While Prince William and Kate Middleton have frequently attended the event, last year was Prince Harry & Meghan Markle’s first appearance.

This year, Markle wore a vintage belted brocade dress from Erdem and Middleton wore an elegant navy blue dress with a beaded headband for the solemn occasion while Prince Harry and Prince Charles donned matching striped ties. Following British tradition, the royals added a red poppy pin to their outfits to commemorate fallen soldiers from the two world wars and later battles.

British politicians including the Prime Minister, veteran communities, and other senior members of the royal family such as Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall and Princess Anne, all attended the service as well with many of the same guests planning to gather at The Cenotaph for the national memorial service today November 10.

While a public battle with the British media over a breach in Markle’s privacy is ongoing, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were reportedly taking a step back from their royal duties in November, planning to visit Markle’s mother in the United States for an American Thanksgiving, and taking an extended break from public engagements until potentially the following year. However, the pair visited the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey earlier this week and are said to continue participating in other remembrance events throughout London, raising the question of whether the royal couple will be putting their break on hold indefinitely or just for this momentous occasion.
