Blackpink made its long-awaited comeback with a new single, ‘Pink Venom’ on Friday, August 19. The popular K-Pop girl group featuring Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rosé, dropped the new track ahead of their album Born Pink which is set to release on September 16.
Showcasing the quartet’s vocal and rap strengths as well as traditional Korean instruments, the new song is set to a strong hip-hop beat. “I remember the first time I listened to the song in the studio; it was really new and sounds we never attempted before,” Rosé said in a press conference after the release. “I just really wanted to record the song right away and show our performance.”
As with any Blackpink release, the music video featuring dynamic choreography is on its way to breaking personal records with the help of its legion of fans, also known as Blinks. However, the group has set its sights on creating music that is most true to themselves. “Rather than breaking records,” Rosé said, “We have really focused on our new songs.”

The video also comes with a potentially viral online trend, the #PinkVenomChallenge, in partnership with YouTube Shorts, which encourages fans to share their own take on the “fang dance”. Speaking about the dance moves, Lisa stated, “We visualized a fang with our hands which most intuitively expresses the ‘Pink Venom’ concept; Everybody can follow it easily… There’s an impactful dance break at the end [of the music video], and the set is just amazing.”
Blinks in the Middle East will soon be able to hear ‘Pink Venom’ and many other songs from the group’s upcoming album live as Blackpink makes its way to the region for the first time. Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi, UAE are two stops on the group’s world tour, which takes off this fall. “It’s our first [tour] in a very long time, so we’d like to focus on our originality and include a lot of new songs,” said Jennie, while Jisoo added that the group is “ready to give everything we have.”
