Beyoncé has given a shout-out to Lizzo weeks after she grabbed headlines for leaving her name out of the Queen’s Remix of “Break My Soul”.

Both, the omission and special mention of Lizzo’s name come at a time when the singer is facing a lawsuit filed by her former dancers for allegations including sexual harassment and weight-shaming. The name-dropping took place at the Grammy-winning singer’s Renaissance concert in Atlanta, where she also exclaimed: “I love you, Lizzo!”. The “Juice” singer has also gone on to enlist the services of attorney Marty Singer, whose past clientele include Bill Cosby, Johnny Depp, and Chris Brown, and released an official statement denying the allegations by dancers Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez.

“These last few days have been gut wrenchingly difficult and overwhelmingly disappointing. My work ethic, morals and respectfulness have been questioned. My character has been criticized,” Lizzo said. “Usually I choose not to respond to false allegations but these are as unbelievable as they sound and too outrageous to not be addressed. These sensationalized stories are coming from former employees who have already publicly admitted that they were told their behavior on tour was inappropriate and unprofessional.”

In a televised interview on Good Morning America, Davis, Williams, and Rodriguez opened up about the lawsuit and its contradiction with Lizzo’s public image. “I know it’s alarming to hear that Lizzo, a plus-size woman who preaches body positivity, would be fat-phobic, essentially. But I want to challenge people to understand that hurt people hurt people,” Davis said.

Beyoncé’s show of support for the singer is the biggest one so far, while Lizzo continues to receive backlash. According to reports, the 35-year-old is no longer being considered as a performer for the 2024 Super Bowl halftime show.
