Balqees Fathi Shares the First Picture of Her Newborn Baby

The day has come: Balqees Fathi has finally shared a never-before-seen picture of her baby boy, Turki. Over the weekend, the Yemeni singer uploaded a picture of herself embracing the sleeping newborn on to her Instagram page. The portrait was posted alongside a series of text posts and music video teasers promoting her newest single, Ahlan Ya Mama, which is a heart-warming tribute to her five-month-old child with her husband Sultan Bin Abdullatif. The videos garnered over 600,000 combined views in the span of a mere 12 hours.

Directed by Fabrizio Notari, the full 221-second clip (which can be found on Fathi’s Vimeo page) features snippets of the Saudi-based singer on general mom duties. There are shots of her cradling her baby, rocking him to sleep, teaching him how to walk, and changing his diaper, giving her fans a chance to finally catch up with her relationship with her newborn son. Despite her public persona, Fathi has kept her baby largely out of the spotlight since she first announced the birth back in May, sometimes sharing images of his tiny feet or strategically angled to cut out his face.

Of course, baby Turki isn’t the first celebrity offspring to make a debut on social media. Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, and Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have all used the photo-sharing platform to introduce the newest additions of their families to the world. And who can forget the time when Kylie Jenner famously announced the birth of her first child, a baby girl named Stormi, by way of an 11-minute video that chronicled her pregnancy and, in the last few seconds, the birth of her baby with Travis Scott? The makeup mogul’s baby name announcement would go on to become the most-liked Instagram post ever, beating out Cristiano Ronaldo’s upload about the birth of his twins, and Beyoncé‘s avant-garde baby announcement (recognize the pattern here?). Baby-related uploads make up some of the most-liked posts on the platform, so it’s no surprise then that many celebrities take to the photo-sharing app to reveal everything from baby bump pictures to snaps of their gender-reveal parties.
