Balqees Fathi Makes Her First Post-Baby Appearance in Oman

This weekend, Balqees Fathi made her first post-baby appearance since giving birth to a baby boy, Turki bin Sultan, with her husband Sultan Bin Abdullatif in May. The Jeddah-based, Yemeni singer was one of the artists performing in front of a jam-packed audience at Oman’s Salalah Tourism Festival 2018, which kicked off last Tuesday. For the occasion of her hotly anticipated return, Fathi wore a voluminous fairytale gown plucked from the Azzi & Osta Fall 2018 Couture collection. The white, sleeveless dress featured a high neck, ball skirt, and crystal embellishments that shone even brighter with a little help from the Kira Kira app. “For her return to the stage as a new mother, we wanted to make sure she looked regal and majestic,” explains a representative of the MA Fashion & Media Consultancy, the creative force behind the singer’s look. “The color white represents purity, innocence, and new beginnings while the princess-cut of the dress added a royal touch. The idea was to symbolize her comeback as a rebirth.”

As for her hair and makeup, the 29-year-old opted to keep it simple “to ensure the attention remains on the gown.” The singer’s hair was styled in voluminous, center-parted curls, which she tucked neatly behind her ears, drawing further attention to her Bvlgari earrings. A granite smokey eye anchored with a swipe of flesh-toned lipstick completed the bombshell look.

During her pregnancy, the singer kept a relatively high profile by performing at a number of events across the region, including at the fifth Sharjah World Music Festival in January, so it’s hardly surprising that she decided to take a little downtime after welcoming her newborn. Though not one to shy away from the limelight for too long, the Salalah Tourism Festival 2018 is the first of a string of public performances under Fathi’s belt in the upcoming months. Next up is Dubai, where the singer is set to take the stage in August for a special Eid Al Adha concert.
