Arab fans of the widely popular Harry Potter series can now listen to the first audiobook in their own language. The Arabic audiobook of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the first of British author JK Rowling’s seven books in the series, is now available to download on the Storytel app.

The audiobook is narrated by Syrian-born voice actor Samaan Ferizali, who will also work on the remaining six audiobooks in the series which will follow this year. The announcement was made at Dubai’s Kuttab Café, 12 weeks after Storytel revealed its collaboration with Pottermore Publishing at Cairo International Book Fair. Ammar Mardawi, Country Manager of Storytel said, “We hope to take this wonderful collection of stories to as many places in the Arab region as possible, so that book lovers in this part of the world can experience the magic all over again in a new way.”

“Samaan has done a spectacular job bringing life to over 150 characters of the seven books and giving our listeners a fresh way to enjoy the many twists and turns of the Harry Potter series,” he added.

Ferizali, who has been working as a voice actor, dubbing artist and presenter for 15 years has recorded many books for publishing houses such as Dar Al Halabi in Morocco and Wahat Al Hekayat in Egypt.

Listeners can download the audiobook and even listen to it offline on the Storytel app available on Google Play and Apple App Store.
