For the first time ever, the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards will be held in the UAE. At the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), on September 20, some of the biggest stars from children’s entertainment will come together in Abu Dhabi for the inaugural regional version of the popular awards show.
The full list of nominees has been revealed and fans can vote for their favorites on Nickelodeon’s website, on Instagram by using a special hashtag of the star nominee, and through the Nickelodeon Play App. The list includes big names from the Arab entertainment and sports industry such as Emirati figure skater Zahra Lari for Favorite Sports Star, and Lebanese TV presenters Raya Abirached, and Wissam Breidy for Favorite TV Personality. Actresses Cyrine Abdelnour, Aseel Omran, and Daniella Rahme have also been nominated while Egyptian actress Salma Abu-Deif has been nominated in the Favorite Female Newcomer category. The music video for Lebanese songstress Maya Diab’s hit song with American rapper French Montana is also in the race to win the award for the favorite music video.
The awards show is part of a larger entertainment experience dubbed The Nickelodeon World which will take place from September 19 to 21 at the ADNEC. Families can enjoy various fun-filled activities including a virtual reality experience, live entertainment as well as musical performances by two regional artists — who are yet to be revealed.
Earlier this month, it was announced that the Department of Culture and Tourism, Abu Dhabi and the owners of Nickelodeon, Viacom have signed a five-year deal to host the Kids’ Choice Awards in the UAE capital. The partnership aims to bring a series of family-friendly activities to Abu Dhabi.
