Amal & George Clooney Have Made a Major Donation to 6 Coronavirus Relief Efforts

Amal and George Clooney have donated USD 1 million (GBP 806,000) to coronavirus relief efforts. The human rights lawyer and actor have divided the charitable donation between six organizations.

The couple has donated USD 250,000 (GBP 200,000) to The Motion Picture & Television home, the SAG-AFTRA fund and the Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles. Clooney is a board member of MPTF, which was established to help industry workers and elderly professionals working in entertainment. The SAG-AFTRA fund helps with emergency financial assistance, and the Mayor’s Fund provides medical supplies to hospitals.

The pair has given another USD 300,000 (GBP 240,000) to three organizations: the NHS, Lombardo Italy Region and the Lebanese Food Bank. The money given to the NHS will help provide assistance to frontline workers. The Lebanese Food Bank helps single mothers, the elderly and vulnerable people who cannot work right now due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Lastly, Lombardo Italy Region will help hospitals in the region which have been badly affected by the outbreak.

The couple joins the likes of Rihanna, Angelina Jolie and Lady Gaga who have made substantial financial donations to relief efforts.
