This week, The Duchess of Sussex returned stateside for the first time since her royal wedding to Prince Harry last May, for the special occasion of her baby shower. The event was co-hosted by her friends Amal Clooney and Serena Williams at The Mark Hotel on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
The Lebanese human rights lawyer was photographed entering the five-star hotel wearing a tailored crimson jumpsuit and metallic pumps. Despite the blizzard, she looked flawless as usual and completed her look with a swipe of lipgloss. Her bodyguard trailed closely behind her carrying what appeared to be gift bags. Other attendees include Markle’s friends Jessica Mulroney, Misha Nonoo, and her former Suits costar Abigail Spencer.
According to reports, the shower was held in the luxurious property’s Penthouse Suite, a 10,000 square foot space with 5 bedrooms, 4 fireplaces, 6 bathrooms, 2 powder rooms, and views of Central Park. Earlier that day, a dozen floral arrangements and decor like a cotton candy machine were pictured arriving at the hotel. Also seen entering the five-star hotel was harpist Erin Hart, indicating that she was providing the entertainment for the shower.
Markle and Clooney are the very definition of #friendshipgoals. The barrister was one of the guests at the May 19 royal wedding alongside her husband George Clooney. According to People, Clooney has been helping Markle “settle in” to life in London and the pair have formed a “natural friendship.” Last August, the Duchess of Sussex and Harry even spent some time at the Clooneys’ estate on Lake Como. And, according to reports, The Duke and Duchess, who are expecting their first child in late April or early May, might ask the Beirut-born human rights lawyer and the Hollywood star to act as godparents to their new arrival.
Royal commentator Omid Scobie revealed on Good Morning America that the New York celebration is one of two, with another shower taking place in England after the duke and duchess return from their forthcoming Morocco trip. Perhaps Clooney is set to host the next event? Watch this space.
