Abu Dhabi is all set to have its very own drive-in cinema. The first of its kind in the UAE’s capital, the experience will be set up in partnership with Reel Cinemas at the Yas Marina Circuit.

Abu Dhabi residents who felt excluded from UAE’s rollout of drive-in cinemas over the past couple of months can now enjoy the experience for three days over weekends. Movies will be showcased at the Yas Drive In Cinema every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 8pm, starting July 9. Its first showing will be Mad Max: Fury Road and will be followed by the screenings of Joker, on Friday, July 10, and Crazy Rich Asians on Saturday, July 11.

Prices of the tickets are yet to be announced, however, they do go on sale Thursday, July 2 so make sure to keep an eye out as the cinema’s capacity is limited to 65 cars. Also, a maximum of two people is allowed per vehicle to ensure that the government’s precautionary measures are being adhered to. These measures also include the wearing of face masks should you choose to lower your car’s windows and speak to any of the cinema’s staff members. They can be summoned from within your cars through the use of hazard lights and will also take your snack orders and deliver them to your cars.

Meanwhile, in Sharjah, the emirate’s first drive-in cinema is ready to welcome moviegoers starting today, July 1 at Madar at Aljada. Besides being the first of its kind in the emirate, the cinema experience is also a free one and will operate on a first-come, first-served basis and a capacity of 150 vehicles. The first movie to be screened is The Avengers at 8pm, and will be followed by Crazy Rich Asians on Thursday, July 2, Frozen on Friday, July 3, Grease on Monday, July 6, and Frozen II on Friday, July 10.
