A month after introducing the first Kandura Rally in Dubai, the minds behind the motoring event have announced the second Abaya Rally event in Abu Dhabi. Lined up for Emirati Women’s Day, the event will take place on August 28 and the all-female rally will begin at Yas Marina Circuit and finish with a gala event at Al Raha Beach Hotel.

The red carpet gala will also feature an abaya fashion show and an awards ceremony, along with a panel discussion featuring Emirati electrical engineer and life coach Walaa Ahmed Al Shehhi and Emirati aircraft engineer Suaad Al Shamsi, who will also take part in the rally.

The day was originally founded in 2015 by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, the Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development, also known as the Mother of the Nation, to acknowledge and celebrate the work done by Emirati women. The day is celebrated annually with a different theme each year. This year, the theme for the day will be “Inspiring Reality; Sustainable Future”.

“Abaya Rally brings together women from different walks of life to show that women can have all the fun as well as drive forward empowered, stronger, and successful towards a more sustainable world,” said Pragna Vaya, managing director of Orbit Events, which is organizing the event in collaboration with the Emirates Motor Sports Organization.

Back in July, more than a hundred supercars and muscle cars sped through the Dubai Digital Park for the debut Kandura Rally, and also attracted several prominent figures in the motoring industry, as well as popular influencers such as Tony Keyrouz and YouTuber Rashed Belhasa, aka Money Kicks. The Kandura Rally mainly featured a parade that began at 6pm at the Dubai Autodrome, prior to riding past attractions such as the Museum of the Future and Meydan Bridge, and concluding at Dubai Silicon Oasis with a celebratory finale event.

Entry to the Abaya Rally at Yas Marina Circuit is free, although registration will be required.
