Dubai Design District is set to host the second edition of UAE Design Stories: The Next Generation from the Emirates in London. Following in the success of the first chapter held in Milan at Salone Del Mobile in April, eight Emirati designers are set to showcase their work in an exhibition at the London Design Fair that is set to run from September 20 to 23.
The aim of the three-day-long exhibition, which is curated by Emirati product designer Khalid Shafar, is to shine a spotlight on the homegrown creative talent from the United Arab Emirates. The participating talents include 2017 DDFC/Vogue Arabia Fashion Prize accessories design finalist Alia bin Omair, interior designers Alia Mazrooei and Roudha Al Shamsi, multidisciplinary designers Aljoud Lootah and Salem Al Mansoori, sculpture artist Azza Al Qubaisi, architect Abdalla Al Mulla, and Bedouin Emirati artist Ahmad Al Areef.
Each of the local designers will create unique commissions for London. The exhibition will then travel to Paris as part of the UAE-France Cultural Dialogue programme, before returning to Dubai for Dubai Design Week, which is set to take place from November 12 to 17.
