As Dubai gears up for a life post-lockdown and the government announces a new set of guidelines and easing up of businesses, the possibilities for what you could do over the weekend are pretty much endless.
From a visit to the salon, a meal at your favorite restaurant to an invigorating ice-skating session – you could be doing anything you set your mind to this weekend while taking all the safety precautions. Here, we hand-pick our top five things to do:
Book a weekend brunch
Restaurants in Dubai are opening up slowly but surely with many offering brunches and dinner menus and services as usual. For signature crispy duck baos, Asian bowls and barebcue, head on over to BB Social Dining in DIFC, open daily from noon to 10pm. Gaia, a Greek-Mediterranean restaurant known for its seafood and mouthwatering greek frozen yogurt is also opening its doors to guests May 28 onwards. For your Japanese fix, Akiba Dori in Design District is back to serving their famous pizzas, wasabi fries, and sushi.
For those of you who missed that good old Dubai brunch life, with most restaurants opening up this week, hors d’oeuvres and salad bars could return to our weekly vocabulary. Go ahead and reserve that table! If you want to hold on to the tail end of the good Dubai weather, make your way down to beach club Zero Gravity for a big breakfast this weekend.
Go ice-skating or enjoy Dubai’s cityscape
A wide variety of indoor activities open up May 27 onwards. For those missing that adrenaline rush, Dubai Ice Rink, Magic Planet, and Ski Dubai have started welcoming visitors with safety precautions. The Green Planet and its cozy cafe have opened up as well for those who fancy a cuppa with a book over the weekend.
Alongside these, you could go karting, take in the beautiful Dubai cityscape from observations decks and platforms, and check out some of the city’s aquariums, museums, and dolphinariums.
Visit your favorite salon
As Dubai salons open up their services at 50% capacity, and with all services available except massages and spas – it’s finally time to get your hair and nails done. As part of the strict safety measures, surface and chair decontamination will be carried out between clients, and everyone is encouraged to wash their hands before and after their treatment.
