The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are having a baby girl.

The couple revealed the gender of their second child on Oprah with Meghan and Harry: A Primetime Special. “To have any child, any one or any two, would have been amazing. But to have a boy and then a girl, what more can you ask for?” Prince Harry told Oprah.

Their daughter will be born sometime this summer.

The couple first announced their pregnancy news back in February. They released a black and white photograph taken by famed photographer Misan Harriman, where they lay beneath a tree in sunny California. The news was made all the more poignant considering the Duchess had suffered a miscarriage in July. A few months later, she wrote about her experience in a powerful op-ed for The New York Times.

They welcomed their first child, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, in May 2019. Since then, the couple has moved from the United Kingdom to Montecito, California.

It was a joyful moment in an intense, in-depth interview with the famed television host. In it, the couple shared how they both struggled with media attention and a lack of support from the institution of the royal family. The Duchess also admitted she struggled with suicidal thoughts, however, is “still standing.”

“My hope for people in the takeaway from this is to know that there’s another side,” she said. “To know that life is worth living.”
