The first look at Jennifer Lopez‘s upcoming film Marry Me is finally here and fans can’t wait for this early 2000s like rom-com. Last Monday, The singer-turned-actor tweeted “Save the Date” along with a 15-second clip of her with co-stars Owen Wilson, Sarah Silverman, and Columbian singer Maluma in his major feature debut.
Based on the graphic novel by Bobby Crosby, the film is described as a “modern love story about fame, marriage, and social media.” Lopez’s character is about to marry a new music star in a worldwide ceremony when she discovers that he cheated on her. She has a meltdown, then locks eyes with Wilson’s character and decides to marry him. “I did an album with this movie, so there are all new songs, new music with it, so it’s exciting,” Lopez said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon earlier this year. “I have six to eight songs, and Maluma does two or three.”
Marry Me is directed by Kat Coiro from a screenplay by John Rogers, Tami Sagher and Harper Dill. Universal Pictures will release the film on February 12, at the start of the Valentine’s Day weekend. Last month, The Hustlers star also teased the launch of her namesake cosmetics line, JLo Beauty, on Instagram. The reveal was accompanied by a series of radiant golden-hour selfies that were heavy on the glam and minimal on the details. However, according to a trademark filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in December 2019, JLo Beauty will offer everything from cosmetics to skincare products.
“I will be coming out with a skincare line. I’ve been working on it for a long time because I don’t want to put [just] anything out. It’s going to be something that works. That’s what you can count on when my name is on something,” Lopez said in an interview earlier this year. The star has already built a fragrance empire and launched her 25th perfume, Promise, in September 2019.
