As more people in the region begin to adopt a holistic approach to healthy living, the Middle East’s first wellbeing resort opens its doors in Dubai. Entitled The Retreat Palm Dubai MGallery by Sofitel, the beachfront wellness resort is situated in Dubai’s palm-tree shaped artificial island, against the backdrop of the Persian gulf, and is a must-visit for those seeking an escape that will both satisfy their wanderlust and workout goals in one go. “Our retreats are designed to fulfill a variety of needs: whether the guest is looking for detox, weight management, or mindfulness, we work together to create a truly unforgettable and transformational experience,” says general manager Samir Arora.
The 255-room resort opened its doors in October, with a focus on holistic living, from the minimalistic interior, which was designed with the concept of feng shui, to the restaurants, which serve meals cooked using strictly organically sourced ingredients. The resort is also home to the world’s first Rayya Wellness Centre, with certified doctors, nutritionists, and lifestyle coaches who carry out an individual analysis for all guests, before creating a personalized health plan and specialized detox programs to deliver a whole body reset.

Those drained from the bustle of city dwelling will find all the tools for a deep unwind at this health retreat. Each day, there are an array of different group activities to partake in, including kayaking, meditation, and laughter yoga (yes, it’s a thing). There’s also a fully equipped gym for those who want to break a fast sweat. If you’re looking to indulge, trained therapists are on hand to perform relaxing, full-body massages or a camel milk facial, before you enjoy a nutritious cup of organic pressed juice, which is served by the hour, in the oxygen room. While some pleasures (lying on a quartz crystal bed) are esoteric, others, such as lounging at the infinity pool, could not be any simpler. Healthy meals are served in the retreat’s two restaurants, which are designed to promote socializing between guests so you can leave with a newfound sense of well-being, in addition to a new friend.
