Tom Ford never disappoints. This couldn’t have been more accurate for his AW20 show. Bringing together not only fashion but Hollywood’s finest in Los Angeles over Oscars weekend, it wasn’t just the collection that got nods of approval. From Anok to Bella and Gigi and Kendall, Ford brought his beauty A-game. “As a fashion designer, one is only able to present to the world one’s true and deepest ideals of beauty once. Only once. If you are lucky, the world responds,” he’s famously said in the past.
This season saw flawless skin, sculpted with a mastery of someone who truly understands the power of light and shadow. Primed with Tom Ford Research Serum Concentrate and Crème Concentrate models skin was energized before his Shade and Illuminate Soft Radiance Foundation was applied. Working with his new Shade and Illuminate brush allowed makeup artists to give skin a three-dimensional radiance. His iconic Shade and Illuminate cream duo was used to highlight the contours of the face emphasizing each model’s singular beauty.
For any imperfections, his Emotionproof Concealer was used before the skin was finished off with the Skin Illuminating Powder Duo. Brows were kept clean and groomed with the Brow Sculptor pencil filling in any gaps. Embracing Ford’s love of a smoky eye, this look was elevated with richly pigmented shadows. In the spotlight, Eye Quad 04 in Suspicion for lighter skin and the copper-gold shade from 23 African Violet. Sweeping each color over the entire lid, it was then feathered up towards each model’s brow bone.
Adding dimension to the eye, the shades of Espresso and Dominateur were used from the Emotionproof Eyeliner collection is swept into the crease. Catching the light, the shade Body Heat from Eye Quad 03 was blended on top of the lid contrasting the warm russet shade of Honeymoon along the lower lash line. Intensifying the model’s gaze saw the waterline rimmed before the finishing touched arrived with a sweep of Emotionproof Mascara.
