Whether you prefer a sharp wing, or a smoky kohl, make sure your eyeliner stays in place with the right beauty toolkit, following Vogue Arabia’s red carpet-approved makeup artist tips.
Black is back
Layer up eyeliner formulas for truly opaque liner – sketch out the winged shape first using a gel pencil or gel pot liner for extra precision. Trace over using a felt-tip eyeliner for a sharp and distinct line, or add on a kohl pencil for a smoky rock and roll wing like Syrian singer Assala.

Up all night
For a long-lasting smudged eyeliner look like Nancy Ajram, set your liquid liner with powder to make sure it doesn’t smudge or shift. Lightly dust a transparent setting powder over the liner look, brush of excess powder, then retrace the eyeliner for a second time for longer lasting lines, before blending shadow on top.

Clean sweep
The professionals’ secret to perfectly sharp winged liner? Use a concealer – a paste or stick formula works best – to clean up the edges, as seen with Kendall Jenner’s tidy look at the relaunch of Nobu at Atlantis, Dubai. After drawing on eyeliner, use a thin-tipped lip or eye brush to paint the concealer alongside the eyeliner, straightening out the line and clearing up any wobbles or smudges.
