Sister duo Sonia and Fyza Ali have garnered more than 500 000 followers on their shared Instagram account @soniaxfyza, who flock to their page to admire makeup artist Fyza’s makeup transformations. Now, fans can see the beauty guru live in action at The Address Downtown for her final workshop. Scheduled for April 29, the masterclass is dedicated specifically to Arab women. “Our makeup techniques should not be the same as our Western counterparts, as we have completely different undertones and features,” says Fyza, who has done makeup for a number of celebrities, including Naomie Harris and Karrueche Tran. “The Middle Eastern climate also plays a role in how we should be taking care of our skin.”
Unlike most beauty masterclasses, where the makeup artist showcases their skills on flawless A-listers, Fyza has tapped three “real” girls to be her models. “I’m choosing to use girls with pigmentation issues, enlarged pores, problem skin, and other “flaws” that most girls live with day to day.” The models include her sister/muse Sonia and Dubai-based influencer Rania Fawaz, daughter of Iraqi designer Zeena Zaki.
The beauty workshop is for both beginners and professionals, and is meant to teach women skills that they can use on their own. “I want to spread the message that less is more,” Fyza says. “Women here are already beautiful. They don’t need to exaggerate their eyes or wear tons of makeup – they already have great features.” The class will cover necessary beauty skills and techniques such as color correcting and contouring.
Sponsored by major beauty brands, including Charlotte Tilbury, YSL, Tarte, Too Faced, and Beautyblender, there will be different booths offering hair, makeup, and nail services for guests to enjoy during the breaks.
Tickets cost 3 000 AED/SAR – but you better act fast. The venue accommodates 200 guests, 30 VIP.
