How Sonam Kapoor Transforms the Everyday Plait

After tying the knot with businessman Anand Ahuja last week, Sonam Kapoor made her first red carpet appearance at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. The new bride attended Monday’s screening of BlacKkKlansman wearing a custom, two-piece Ralph & Russo lehenga. But rather than opt for a sleek updo or soft, brushed out waves, Kapoor chose to elevate the custom couture creation with a single, face-framing plait that fell down the center of her back— But it wasn’t your average school girl braid. The Bollywood star transformed the popular off-duty look by decorating her lengths with one game-changing accessory. L’Oréal Paris Hair Expert, Stéphane Lancien, who devised the look, affixed a pearl-embellished naga jadai (a braid headpiece typically worn by Indian brides) down the lengths of the braid that lent a romantic touch to the look. The heat-friendly coiffure offers a chic way to rock the plait to the next outdoor wedding or festival, and can be easily recreated. And with the temperatures in the region showing no signs of letting down, we plan to take a beauty cue from Kapoor’s refined yet carefree hairstyle.
