Eye-focused makeup looks and inclusive complexion products continue to soar in 2021, with Charlotte Tilbury’s first launch for the year combining both trends. Inspired by its Hollywood Flawless Filter foundation, the brand has released three new Hollywood Flawless Eye Filter palettes and the Hollywood Exagger-Eyes Liner Duo, a double-ended defining and illuminating eye pencil. The foundation also gets a color range extension, covering five new shades and undertones across the complexion spectrum for a more inclusive selection.

Sofia Schwarzkopf-Tilbury, makeup artist and the brand founder’s niece, explains why the new collection is perfect for the Middle East, and what other beauty trends to expect this year.
What do women in the Middle East want from their makeup?
Charlotte and I love the Middle East and we always say Middle Eastern women truly understand the power of makeup. I think you all have the most amazing eyes and eye makeup. I’m a real advocate of the power of a feline flick and I wear one almost every day, so I also love the new Hollywood Exagger-Eyes Liner Duo. It has a creamy, jet-black liner on one end to elongate the eyes with feline definition, and an illuminating champagne liner on the other end to brighten and widen the look of the eyes. I always like to run this along my waterline for a wide-awake look – it’s like an optical illusion.

Why expand the Hollywood Flawless Filter collection?
Anyone who follows my Instagram will know that I am completely obsessed with Hollywood Flawless Filter. It’s like skin confidence and glow in a bottle. I use it on all of my celebrity and model clients. Charlotte was inspired by the perfecting properties of social media filters and wanted to create a Hollywood Flawless Filter collection so you can create the look of a filter for even when there isn’t one.

Any application tips for the Hollywood Flawless Filter?
There are three ways to wear Hollywood Flawless Filter—from wearing alone for a fresh-faced radiance, to wearing beneath or mixed with your foundation for a soft radiance or applying to the high points of your face for the ultimate highlighted radiance. I always use my Hollywood Complexion Brush, blending with the flat end for a perfected, airbrushed-looking finish.

Given that this collection is inspired by “filtered skin”, how have social media filters changed how we use makeup?
I love social media, and I think filters are so fun, and a source of amazing creativity and inspiration for makeup artists like me. Social media really allows us to see new beauty trends emerging all around the world, and so many of our products, from Hollywood Flawless Filter to Charlotte’s Exagger-eyes palette were innovated on that need for real-life social media filters that make you feel confident and look like the most beautiful version of yourself.

What are your beauty trends predictions for 2021?
I think 2021 is going to be a huge year for skincare, with so many of us having more time to spend on supercharging our beauty routines! Charlotte is so inspired by beauty tech, so I expect our innovative products and services to continue to expand.
