Naturopath Mary Capelle gives us a series of simple tips to get rid of acne and blemishes that go beyond which foods to cut out. “In addition to a diet full of antioxidants and vitamins, it is important to follow a few steps in your beauty routine, focusing on organic products and trying to keep things as clean as possible,” she explains. Here are her 100% natural anti-acne recommendations, to be followed in addition to the basic rules of healthy skincare, such as cleansing your face morning and night and avoiding touching your face with dirty hands.

8 natural tips for banishing acne

1. Use thyme or rosemary floral water
Opt for thyme or rosemary floral water as a toner (to rinse away the limescale of tap water) and rub it in with the warmth of your (clean) hands. It is also possible to do the same thing with Colloidal Silver 20 PPM on a cotton pad if the skin has a lot of imperfections since it has well-known antibacterial properties.

2. Locally apply essential oil
Use as follows: on a red pimple, a drop of tea tree essential oil, on a pimple that has been triturated, a drop of true lavender essential oil and on pimples under the skin/microcysts, a drop of essential oil of petit grain bigarade. If the imperfections cover the whole face, put three drops of tea tree essential oil in the palm of your hand and mix with a moisturizer, for all-over purifying action (it is possible to do it also with lavender and orange seed oil depending on the skin’s condition).

3. Do a mask once a week
Choose green clay if your skin is oily, yellow if your skin is combination, or pink if your skin is sensitive. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes without letting it dry. Spray on a mist or floral water spray as soon as the material starts to dry. Manuka honey or thyme honey mask can also be very effective as a one-hour application once a week. It can be done in addition to the clay mask.

4. Change your pillowcase
Once a week change them out and choose a model made of organic cotton or silk.

5. Wipe your face with single-use tissues
Instead of a towel.

6. Use a hands-free kit when talking
Do not put your phone to your ear, as it is a breeding ground for bacteria.

7. Apply Colloidal Silver 20ppm after wearing a mask
After wearing a mask for a long time, wipe a cotton ball with Colloidal Silver 20ppm on the face to disinfect the area.

8. Choose mineral makeup
It’s best to go for clean, organic makeup that’s preferably mineral, since zinc clarifies the skin and redness.
