Saudi-Australian model Shanina Shaik has given her followers a glimpse at her soon-to-launch beauty brand, Sala By Shanina, announcing its arrival in an Instagram post. The former Vogue Arabia cover star also revealed the first product from the collection, a multi-tasking and buildable mascara which she says is “the ultimate mascara that’s all about bringing back the iconic 90’s fierce confidence”. Describing Sala By Shanina as a space “where clean beauty and community meet”, she also revealed that the first products by the brand with launch in September.

No stranger to beauty, the model often posts makeup and skincare-related content and tutorials, sharing her natural passion for the industry. Adding a level of community to her exciting new launch, Shaik has also invited followers to vote for the name of the new Sala By Shanina mascara. In a poll hosted by Beaubble, a “studio for creator-led, community-powered beauty brands”, name options include Classic Ninety, Lash Archive, and 24 Lash, as well as encouraging site visitors to vote for their preferred packaging design.

The 32-year-old model, who graced the June 2022 cover of Vogue Arabia, has previously said that her Australian, Lithuanian, and Pakistani background made her an outlier. “I have a diverse ethnic background — it wasn’t accepted or recognized in the modeling industry, which still had to make a lot of changes and celebrate diversity. I was part of a slow movement that has come a long way today.”
