Over the years, Selena Gomez has opened up to the world about her health struggles on more than one occasion. Back in 2015, the star shared that she was suffering from lupus, for which she went down the chemotherapy route, after which fans were also informed that she was in the midst of a kidney transplant, and most recently, Gomez also went on record to speak out about her battle with bipolar disorder, and experiences with depression and anxiety. Just days ago, the 29-year-old also shared that she will soon be joining forces with mother Mandy Teefey and The Newsette founder and CEO Daniella Pierson to launch a new mental health platform named Wondermind, which will go live in February 2022.
It comes as no surprise, then, that Selena Gomez often finds herself being asked questions on mental health and her go-to coping mechanisms. Earlier this week, she took to the official Wondermind Instagram page—which has already earned more than 37,000 followers!—to talk about the three things she does on her worst mental health days.

In her video, the multi-hyphenate admitted to, like most of us, having days when getting out of bed feels like a challenge. “What helps me, first and foremost, [is] just picking up the phone and calling someone,” she shared. The second habit she is trying to cultivate is focusing on learning more about herself and the triggers that usually get to her, saying that, “What really helps me understand myself a bit more is that I can, you know, take a step back and think of all the tools I’ve learned and try to implement them in my everyday life”
As for her third tool to boosting her mood, Gomez revealed that a good sweat sesh can go a long way in improving her day. “I suggest working out,” she said in the selfie video, “I hate working out, it is not fun, but I’ve been doing like intense boxing classes recently, and it has really helped me get a lot of frustration but also just energy out, and it feels so good.” That’s one that several celebrities will agree with, and research has proven time and again that physical activity has a direct role to play in boosting endorphins.
