Rihanna’s Pink Hair is Taking Us Back to 2014

Rihanna’s pink hair, a new look seen just days before the 2024 Met Gala, serves as a throwback to her look from a decade ago.

Robyn Rihanna Fenty can pull off just about anything. And that includes every hairstyle under the sun. The musician and entrepreneur has rocked dark brown, fire engine red, and has now made her return to bright pink.

Rihanna looked stunning with soft honey blonde hair in recent months, but debuted a gorgeous pastel shade of pink on Saturday night when she was spotted in Miami — just two days before the 2024 Met Gala. While supporting her partner and the father of her two children, A$AP Rocky, Rihanna showed up to the launch of the rapper’s Puma collaboration with the new tresses.

All eyes were on the couple, but most importantly on Rihanna’s pink hair. In photos shared by Vogue, Rihanna was shown wearing a black corseted dress, while her long, blown-out pink hair hung below her shoulders.

This isn’t the first time Rihanna has had a pink hairstyle. The singer famously sat courtside at a Los Angeles Clippers game in 2014 with a pink pixie cut, jeans, and a simple white tank top.

This leads us to wonder if the pink hair nearly a decade later was a strategic choice for this year’s Met Gala — that is, if she is even going at all. Rihanna has become a Met Gala staple over the years and has become known for having some of the best ensembles at fashion’s biggest night of the year. At just 19-years-old, Rihanna attended her first Met Gala in 2007 wearing a Georges Chakra dress. Since then, the superstar has stunned in her infamous Pope-style hat for 2018’s “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Image” theme, along with her long yellow fur-trimmed train from Guo Pei at 2015’s “China: Through The Looking Glass.”

Met Gala 2024’s theme is “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” with the dress code officially being “The Garden of Time.” The exhibit will celebrate more than 400 years of fashion history and the iconic silhouettes that have evolved over time.
