All the Best Beauty Looks From Paris Couture Week Spring/Summer 2023

Modern flappers at Dior

The chic flappers of the roaring 20s had an evident influence on Dior’s hair and makeup, with the era getting a slightly grungy makeover in the hands of Peter Philips for the spring 2023 couture runway. A moody smoky eye was accented with hints of silver topping the smudged charcoal base.  “I highlighted the eyes with a combination of black shadows blended with silver, in a transparent way,” says Philips. “It is a slightly blurred, unpolished smoky eye, which plays on light effects and provides an element of mystery.” Dior hair stylist Guido Palau created curving “kiss curls” mixed with slicked baby hairs along the hairline, with braids pulled back in low buns for a polished vintage look.  “The result was a simultaneously dark, yet bright look that was a bit blurred, and not too polished,” explains Philips.

Fresh faces at Chanel

It felt like spring had sprung on Chanel‘s 2023 couture runway. With dewy, clean skin, pretty pink cheeks, and natural brows, models were left with. bare-eyed look, with only a soft hint of mascara to shape. A glossy red-pink lip was the focus of the face, with a juicy layer of lip gloss giving a youthful finish.

Innocent flushes at Schiaparelli

Fresh faced skin offset Schiaparelli‘s runway, a dainty contrast to the spring couture show’s theme of Dante’s Inferno. Models were made up with a softly matte base, with setting powder eliminating any glow. A rosy bush was traced from the cheeks’ apples, to the cheekbone contour for a natural flush. Eschewing lipstick, a dewy balm was instead pressed into pouts, for an entirely wearable couture beauty look.

Chic smoky eyes at Georges Hobeika

At Georges Hobeika‘s famous friends-packed spring couture runway, stars including television host Diala Makki, mother-daughter duo Rita and Jessica Kahawaty, and Tunisian model Ameni Esseibi strode the runway in a modernized smoky eye. A gunmetal eyelid look gleams under lashings of mascara, with a nude lip completing the look. Sleek and straightened hair was parted to the side, framing an angular contour.

Draped blush at Valentino

Makeup artists played with light and darkness for Valentino‘s spring 2023 couture runway show. The 80s influenced beauty look embraced pink blush draping, sending the spring-ready shade up the cheekbones and across the forehead for a stunning editorial style finish. Eye and face contours were shaded in deeply, with a splash of pearly pink in the corner of each eye, illuminating an intense makeup look.

Pearly illumination at Giambattista Valli

Models were spotlit at Giambattista Valli, with a complexion-enhancing off-white pigment swept across the face. The eye inner corners were given a chalky white finish, while a brushstroke of ivory contoured directly under the eyebrow, curving to rest on the cheekbones and finished with an icy pearl shimmer. Hair was swept back in sleekly bunched ponytails, and adorned with silk flowers.

Bleached brows at Jean Paul Gaultier

The French designer certainly got the memo for the continuing bleached brow trend, with models at the Jean Paul Gaultier spring 2023 couture presentation sporting icy eyebrows. The strong look was paired with tightly slicked back hair and vibrant splashes of power colors – acid green, denim blue, and bubblegum pink – accented by exaggerated extra long, clumped doll lashes.

Bright blues at Rahul Mishra

Wet-look hair gave a drenched twist on the SS23 center part staple, with models sporting long, slicked down locks for the Rahul Mishra spring 2023 couture runway. The aquatic theme continued for the Indian designer with a pop of aqua blue on eyes, concentrated into a playful pastel in the inner corners and blended out to a more muted teal across the eyelids.

Pink pouts at Antonio Grimaldi

At Antonio Grimaldi’s spring 2023 couture presentation in Paris, models wore a red-pink lip and a petal hued blush. Sweetly styled for the warmer months, makeup artists kept brows full and fluffy, brushing up and out for a naturally thick look. Paired with a tightly pulled back top-knot, the designer’s beauty look is a pretty update on the bold lip.

Dramatic wings at Viktor & Rolf

While Viktor & Rolf‘s upside-down, back-to-front gowns captured most of the attention on the designers’ spring 2023 couture runway, the beauty look is worthy of its own spotlight. Models sported fierce stares, with eyes full lined with thick kohl borders. Long sweeping flicks tailed up from the outer corners of the eyes and up to the brow, for a dramatic lift. Pastel highlighted wigs and bangs softened the otherwise severe look.
