A lot can happen in ten years. For fragrance brand, Parfums de Marly becoming one of the worlds most beloved niche brands has to be one of its many highlights. Founded in 2009 by Julien Sprecher, he was inspired by his father whose love for perfumes passed down through the generations. Opening offices in the Middle East, the brand began its global domination that now sees over 65 countries stock its creations. Since its inception, Parfums de Marly has launched over 25 fragrances for both men and women and continues to grow.

Its inspiration has been drawn from the extravagant period of the 18th century. Considered the golden age of perfumery French King Louis XV was famed for leading the “perfumed court”. The King was also known for his love for racehorses. Drawing the houses name from the famous ‘Chevaux de Marly’ sculpture created by Guillaume Coustou, these statues used to decorate the grand foundation at Versailles, perfumed as per Louis’ request, brining the kings two passions together.

Offering rare olfactory moments, Sprecher explains, “Perfume is a time capsule. It has the power to take us on a journey. I have always loved the 18th century where horses and perfumes were the pride and glory of France.” The house is made up of signature scents. Each concept drawing up the luxury of the period by using noble raw materials. Vanilla, orange blossom, heliotrope, and guaiac wood are some of Sprecher’s favorites.

One of the houses best sellers and launched just this year is Cassili. Blending together velvety fruits and pastel flowers the fragrance takes on the role of an oriental floral. Top notes include red currant and Bulgarian rose, with the heart offering plum and mimosa. Rounding off the scent, a sprinkling of vanilla and sandalwood. Timeless, it represents the sophisticated blends that the Parfums de Marly is so loved for creating.
