As the world of beauty turns to nature, so does Swedish brand & Other Stories with its latest chapter the Paris Atelier beauty collection. Looking to active ingredients that have been certified of French origin, each products averages at containing 85% natural ingredients. Catarina Åberg, Senior Cosmetics Chemist at & Other Stories, talks all things beauty and what inspired the new range.

Why did & Other Stories move into the world of beauty?

Around 2010, I had the great opportunity to join a small team of very talented people in a project that later was launched as & Other Stories. Originally, the purpose was to create a new beauty brand, offering customers high-quality formulations for a good price. Along the way, the concept evolved and grew to include ready-to-wear, accessories, shoes and bags. It was exciting to work with such a wide range of products from skincare and bath & body to a complete wardrobe of make-up.

What was the inspiration behind Paris Atelier collection?

Inspired by community gardens in Paris, we sourced active ingredients from fruits, vegetables, and trees, all with certified French origin. We’re proud to launch formulations with an average of 85% natural origin, presented in high-quality products with premium textures and effects.

How did you source the ingredients used?

Right from the start, it was important to find local producers that shared our vision and with their help source natural ingredients from France. Each product in the range has a formulation with a bespoke blend of hand-picked active ingredients with certified origin from France. Along with the development, the diverse group of people in our three design ateliers (Paris, Stockholm and Los Angeles) has taken part in the evaluation of the formulations.

What would you say is a typical French beauty look?

There are so many iconic elements in a French beauty look. For me, it is the red lipstick that stands out. It is a classic, has the power to lift any look and suits everyone.

What is your favorite beauty trend for Fall 2017?

I like that there is a mix of both minimalistic and bold looks. Minimalistic with a completely natural look and statement lip colors, and bold with intense and graphical eye make-up. No matter what your preference is, the classic palette found in our Paris Atelier range will fit perfectly.
