Diverse Beauty: Halal Nail Polishes Join the Mainstream

Nail polish certainly comes in many different forms – organic, chrome, vegan, cruelty-free – and now we’re adding “halal” to the list. LA-based beauty brand Orly collaborated with Muslimgirl.com to roll out #HalalPaint, a limited-edition collection of six water-permeable halal-certified nail polish colors.

The breathable collection is infused with 100% all-natural halal ingredients, including argan oil, provitamin B5, and vitamin C. It is permeable to water and air, meaning that it lessens the barrier that traditional varnish creates between the skin and water when one performs wudu. The new collection comes in this season’s trending shades, such as nude and metallic bronze, to chime with the runway looks from Marchesa and Marc Jacobs for the Spring 2017 shows.

With the Holy Month of Ramadan underway, many women give up a range of activities, so the new collection makes sure that a manicure doesn’t have to be one of them. The only downside? It’s limited edition, so you’d better grab the six-piece set on www.HalalPaint.com (where it retails for US $49; AED/SAR 180) while it’s still available. There are also a number of other brands on the market that offer halal-friendly options. Ahead, we round up our favorite breathable nail polishes to stock on your bathroom counter now.
