Naomi Campbell made a bold beauty statement at the Chancellor’s Circle Reception and Dinner at the Royal College of Art in London last week, when she traded in her signature, middle-parted poker straight lengths for a head of textured, bombshell curls complete with an eye-skimming fringe. The tousled style, that fell just below her collarbone, was a welcome departure from the swingy, straight hair we’ve gotten so accustomed to seeing on Campbell as well, as the likes of those she’s inspired, including Kim Kardashian West.
But in Paris, the iconic supermodel went back to her pin-straight, hip-grazing hair, which has become somewhat of her beauty trademark in recent months, for the Trésors d’Afrique bash on Sunday. Campbell opted to rake her obsidian-hued strands away from her face, before securing the style with a thick, black silk headband that added extra polish to her sharply tailored, fringed suit. She accessorized the look with a black choker, a stack of delicate gold necklaces, and a pair of crystal-embellished pumps.
Mere hours after the Trésors d’Afrique event, the super-busy model — who was part of Miu Miu’s star-studded cast for Resort 2019 — had a second rendezvous to attend. For the seasoned runway star, this meant an outfit and hairstyle change. So just when we thought we’d seen the last of her curls, the 48-year-old opted for the same voluminous hairstyle she sported in London for her second look of the evening. Gone was her blunt, straight hair as she joined Farida Khelfa for The Secret Alchemy Of A Collection’ Exhibition Preview At Galerie Azzedine Alaïa, wearing a red, lace top and skirt set paired with a black waist belt.
Effortless curls have also found a fan in Bella Hadid, who stepped out in a halo of retro corkscrews secured half back with an elastic in Cannes in May. So if you’re thinking about abandoning the hair straightener this summer, you’re in good company.
