A voluptuous pout has long been a symbol of beauty— look no further than Angelina Jolie‘s signature, full mouth. And thanks to It girls Kylie Jenner and co., everyone wants to board the plump, pouty lips train. In fact, non-invasive lip augmentation has gone on to become one of the most highly sought-out cosmetic treatments, according to Dr. Tijion Esho, a board-certified cosmetic doctor, also known as “The King of Lips.” The doctor, who counts British girl group Little Mix as fans, is renowned for his passion for creating only the most natural-looking results. He even stars in the reality show, Body Fixers, where he corrects botched lip augmentations— He routinely posts these viral videos on his Instagram account (Note: not for the faint-hearted.) “You don’t notice the person with good results, because they simply look normal. When you can tell a person has plumped up their lips, they have overdone it,” he says.
When it comes to filler, Dr. Esho believes that less is definitely more. This is why he believes in his signature Nano Droplet technique, an up-and-coming lip filler treatment that enables you to get an undetectable yet fuller pout. The technique focuses on enhancing the shape and volume of the lip by distributing minimal amounts of dermal fillers (Juvéderm, Intraline, and Teosyal) at varying depths and points to create a smooth, uniform finish sans lumps and bumps. For the best and most natural results, the cosmetic doctor typically combines this technique with the Cupid’s Bow method, which is all about enhancing the shape of the cupid’s bow rather than plumping the entire lip area. Another bonus? The method boasts very minimal side effects. “Patients may experience redness, swelling, or bruising, but this will subside after three to four days,” says Dr. Esho. To prevent bruising, he suggests avoiding aspirins and other blood thinning medicines, such as Advil and Motrin, up to 10 days before the treatment and icing the area after the procedure. Additionally, there is no downtime; patients can return to their everyday activities right after their appointment.
Dr. Esho is passionate about addressing the lack of regulation in aesthetics. In 2016, he set up The ESHO Initiative in collaboration with Church Pharmacy and Cosmetronic, which provides cost-free, corrective treatment to patients who have been the victims of botched cosmetic procedures, those born with congenital deformities, and those who have experienced severe scarring or disfigurement. To date he has treated more than 500 people under the ESHO Initiative, free of charge.
