The realm of beauty pageantry is finally set to return. After its postponement to avoid clashing with the Fifa Qatar World Cup, the 71st edition of Miss Universe saw the victory of Miss USA R’Bonney Gabriel in January in New Orleans, Louisiana. Now, the 72nd Miss Universe is poised with great anticipation to be back this November 18, announcing great changes to the century-shy tradition.
The grand finale of Miss Universe 2023 is set to return to El Salvador, last gracing the country in 1975, where the radiant Annie Marie Pohtamo from Finland claimed the crown in the splendid locale of San Salvador. The forthcoming November finale promises a tapestry of captivating events, including weeks of exhilarating preliminary competitions.
With over 90 country representatives, this edition will be the first for Pakistan to debut its Miss Universe. Egypt, Bangladesh, Norway, and many more are also set to return to the competition. Dubai-based company Yugen Group, which selects Miss Universe Bahrain, owns the franchise rights and will debut and present Miss Universe Pakistan and Miss Universe Egypt respectively.

What makes this year special is that this is the first event to be held by Thai media company, JKN Global Group, which bought the Miss Universe Organisation for $20 million from IMG; and previously was co-owned by Donald Trump between 1996 and 2002.
Now under JKN Global Group, CEO Anne Jakkapong Jakrajutatip, vowed to enhance inclusivity. This will be the first time that married women and mothers will also be able to partake. Where previously, only single women between the ages of 18 and 28, unacquainted with marriage or motherhood, could ascend the stage of Miss Universe.
