Fashion Month is well under way, with New York bringing an ample dose of makeup inspiration in the form of graphic cat eyes, technicolor eyeshadow, supernatural skin, and vampy lips. Here are the breakout beauty takeaways from the first half of the Spring 2018 collections.

#1. Black Eyeliner is Anything But Basic

The Spring 2018 shows offered plenty of ways to update the traditional slick of black eyeliner. At Tom Ford, the models of the moment took to the runway wearing glittery cat eyes. At Jason Wu, Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid’s fresh complexions were punctuated with a graphic, military green pigment. Meanwhile at Ulla Johnson, anthracite liquid was traded in for white strips of liner that traced the lower lash lines.

#2. Technicolor Eyeshadow For the Win

Chromat’s all-inclusive showcase featured bold pops of color around the eyes. Backstage, makeup artist Fatima Thomas applied bronze eyeshadow to the models’ lids, before topping it with a fingerprint of statement, orange pigment on the inner corner of the eyes.

#3. No Makeup Makeup is Here to Stay

No makeup makeup isn’t going anywhere, and that is okay with us. Thanks to shows by Prabal Gurung, Victoria Beckham, Fenty x Puma, and Alexander Wang, a supernatural complexion paired with a coat of mascara and a swirl of highlighter on the highest points of the face is all that’s needed to look runway-ready come spring.
