Backstage at Louis Vuitton’s Resort 2018 show at Kyoto Japan’s Miho Museum, makeup legend Pat McGrath and a team of backstage artists dipped their brushes into pots of colorful pigment to paint model’s faces with bold brush strokes of pink, blue and red.
The look, which drew inspiration from kabuki makeup— the distinctive makeup worn by Japanese Kabuki actors— created a heightened dose of drama that mirrored the prismatic eye makeup at the French house’s Spring 2017 Ready-to-Wear show.
Those who didn’t take to the runway with painterly strokes on their face, sported geometric, exaggerated cat-eyes that extended way past their temples. The look was paired with sharp, samurai-inspired eyebrows and matte foundation. Certainly a look to copy/paste into your beauty regime for events that require a megawatt look.
