Karen Wazen is the latest style star to go for the big chop and debut short hair, following Balqees and Dorra Zarrouk.
The bob is making a strong return in all shapes and forms for the year 2024, with a number of renowned names in the region championing the change. Lebanese entrepreneur Karen Wazen is one of them, as she recently went back to the look that had long been her signature many years ago. While Wazen appeared to be having a lot of fun styling her long brown hair, from sleek and straight to top knots and braids, one can’t beat the simplicity and chicness that comes from a bob. Wazen took to Instagram to share a few pictures showing off her new look, with a caption referring to the time when she used to have chin-length hair, “Guess who back?”

Emirati singer Balqees, too, debuted a drastic change recently after having made waist-grazing locks her signature. Unlike Wazen’s minimalistic version, Balqees’ bob features textured layers and wispy bangs, offering versatility to the look. As is customary for dramatic chops, Balqees shared a video of celebrity hairstylist Tony El Mendelek working his magic on the singer’s locks. Balqees has since sported the look in two unique ways on different occasions, with the first being tousled with undone ends, and the other one in a more polished style and featuring her bangs swooped to the side. Internationally, the minimal bob also had a major moment on the 2024 Golden Globes red carpet, with actors including Ayo Edebiri, Greta Lee, Carey Mulligan, and Emma Stone making a case for the look.

Those looking to play it safer may do well with taking a page out of Dorra Zarrouk‘s book, who went for a longer version of the bob paired with face-hugging bangs. The style is known to flatter many face shapes and was especially popular in the 90s for its soft and glamorous appeal. It has since made a resurgence on TikTok, with women around the world asking for a Farrah Fawcett-style blowout. The upkeep of the hairstyle also requires little to no effort, with a round brush and blowdry doing the trick.
