Two stars of Jordan – makeup authority Hindash and actress Joanna Arida – evoke the glorious glamour of the color-saturated 80s, retold in modernized shapes and elevated finishes.
Celebrating the second anniversary of his namesake brand, Hindash Cosmetics, celebrity makeup artist Hindash says that it was perfect serendipity that he could mark the occasion with fellow Jordanian creative and star of Netflix’s AlRawabi School for Girls, actress Joanna Arida. “Being Jordanian myself, I’m such a big fan of her show, and was happy to see it take off in popularity,” he shares with VOGUE Arabia’s Beauty Editor, Michaela Somerville. “We instantly became friends and talked about all things beauty and Jordan, realizing we were even neighbors at one point.”
Transforming Arida into a glamorous 80s starlet, Hindash reimagined his favorite era with amplified looks that detoured from his more subtle signature neutrals. “I’m actually obsessed with the 80s – the colors and the unapologetically excessive beauty where more is more,” he enthuses. “It was so fun creating this with Joanna because not only is she stunning, she’s also a breath of fresh air that can pull off any vivid look.”
“I immediately knew Joanna would be the perfect match to Hindash’s big and bold 80s looks,” explains VOGUE Arabia’s Beauty Editor, Michaela Somerville. “With her expressive eyes, and effortless mane of fire-red hair, we knew she could pull off such dramatic looks, while still keeping it modern.”
With further releases planned for 2023, the beauty entrepreneur’s collection spans eyes, lips, face, and complexion, including the currently sold-out Beautopsy palette and the succeeding Monochromance palette. His lipsticks, eyeliners, lip pencils, and liquid pigments can be used for an everyday boost, or full red carpet glam, with the makeup artist expanding his long-running YouTube channel with dedicated masterclasses for viewers “from all backgrounds,” he says. “I’m constantly inspired by the people I work with, from editorial shoots to private clients, and working with my friends like Joanna, Mona Zaki, Lindsay Lohan, and Amina Khalil.”
