It’s no small feat to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show. As one of the most coveted stages in America because of its 100 million viewers each year, the Super Bowl is often home to some of the most elaborate concerts by the world’s biggest musicians. This year, none other than Jennifer Lopez set the American football stadium on fire in Miami with her showstopping medlies and extravagant Versace costume changes. Yet, the silent hero of the night had to be Lopez’s makeup that managed to not only stay put through every strut, shimmy, and spin but also appeared just as flawless by the end of the evening as when celebrity makeup artist Scott Barnes first applied it.

Famous in the beauty industry for long back creating JLo’s signature bronzed skin and nude lips, commonly dubbed “The Glow”, Barnes is still often the mastermind behind the Puerto Rican singer’s most famous red carpet looks even today. For the Super Bowl, Barnes achieved this long-lasting glam mostly with the help of fan-favorite American brand Marc Jacobs Beauty.

Using the O!Mega Bronzer Coconut Perfect Tan to enhance JLo’s natural sun-kissed skin tone, Barnes blended a combination of the two matte-finish shades Tantalize and Tantric to create an effortless contour and a full-body glow that shimmered brighter than the stadium lights.

Rocking a glittering smokey eye that embraced warm hues of gold and brown, it’s easy to see how Lopez is still regarded as a femme fatale decades after her entrance into the limelight. With the help of the award-winning Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Blacquer, Barnes painted a bold, black wing that was both 12-hour longwear and waterproof yet still easy for him to smudge out for a more dramatic look visible from anywhere on the field. To complete the look and amp up the volume, the beauty expert added his own branded Pumped Up Mascara and Bianca Falsetto Lashes. While Lopez’s performance is already set to go down in history as one of the most iconic Super Bowl halftime shows, it’s safe to say her glam will be just as memorable.
