Bringing back the sweet times of the ’70s, when disco reigned over the nights of bell bottoms and outrageous fashion revolutions, Iman Abdulmajid recently took Vogue down memory lane with a step-by-step skincare and beauty routine video. One of the most sought-after supermodels of her time, Iman  continues to be a beauty inspiration to millions across the world, and her latest on-camera getting-ready video has already earned thousands of views. In her new video, Iman began her skincare routine with a turmeric and ginger elixir, which she drank with her favorite Fiji water. Why? Because “First step is beauty from within,” she explained. The model also highlighted some of her favorite beauty secrets, passed down through generations in her home country Somalia, advising watchers that skin taken care of in the 20s is the very same skin inherited in the 60s and 70s. She also revealed the name of a cost-effective face mask she swears by, and has been using since she was 12 years old.

The video progressed to show Iman creating an easy at-home mask, which consisted of two tablespoons of flour, a teaspoon of turmeric, and three tablespoons of milk, all blended together with a dollop of honey. Her pro tip: After leaving the mask on for 20-30 minutes, make sure to wipe it off as she did with a dark washcloth to ensure you don’t end up with turmeric stains on your towels.

Iman Abdulmajid began her five-step skincare routine with an SKII Essence, followed by a Biologique serum. “At whatever age you are, do not strip the natural oil that’s on your skin,” she shared. She then gently treated her eyes to some 111SKIN eye cream, emphasizing the importance of treating one’s skin with gentle care so as to prevents wrinkles from forming in the longer run. “I’ll be honest, I haven’t had any botox in my face,” she admitted, while finishing her routine off with the Black Diamond 111SKIN moisturizer and Dr. Dennis Gross’ Vitamin C face mist.

During the course of her beauty routine, Iman also touched upon her difficulties in finding the perfect shade of foundation for her skin tone in the 80s. It was this dilemma that inspired her to start her own makeup brand, IMAN Cosmetics, to broaden the range of skin shades offered in the market for women of color, raising her call for inclusivity. After a makeup artist failed to find the right shade of foundation for her and combined a dark shade of eyeshadow with moisturizer, Iman released her first foundation line, which she carried around to every shoot she got.

After applying her concealer with a Kevyn Aucoin brush and finishing off with a darker foundation shade for contour, Iman split a tissue in half and patted her face dry, removing the excess foundation oil—a key tip for makeup enthusiasts who love a clean finish. “I like smoky eyeshadow, and I have found one compact where I actually use all the colors,” she revealed before passing her brush on a Makeup by Mario nude shades palette. “I personally gravitate towards nudes—you know, all kinds of nudes, from lightest to darkest,” she explained before locking her smoky eye in with Lady Gaga‘s “mistake-proof” Haus Laboratories eyeliner, and a sweep of Armani Beauty eyes mascara.

Reaching out for her IMAN Lip pencil, the fashion icon finished her look with a glossy lip mask and a spritz of her new fragrance, Iman Love Memoir Eau De Parfum, dedicated to her late husband, David Bowie. “I always say you’re not fully dressed without a perfume,” she concluded.
