Makeup mogul Huda Kattan took to Instagram on Sunday to share that she has taken part in the 100 Million Meals food drive by donating one million meals through her cosmetics company Huda Beauty.
The initiative was launched at the beginning of Ramadan by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai to provide food parcels to disadvantaged communities across 20 countries in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa to combat hunger and malnutrition that was exacerbated during the pandemic.
“It’s hard to believe that in today’s world, in 2021 were still dealing with issues of malnutrition and that every ten seconds a child dies because of hunger,” said Kattan in the post announcing her pledge. “This initiative is so incredible and it’s just a reminder of how each and every single one of us has the power to make a change.”

The video was captioned, “End hunger by 2030 #100MillionMeals. I am SO honored to take part in this humbling humanitarian aid initiative by @MBRInitiatives who will be distributing food parcels to disadvantaged individuals during the blessed month of Ramadan. At Huda Beauty, we are proud to support this initiative by donating 1 million meals. Together we can make a difference my loves. Love you all so much. Donate now: www.100millionmeals.ae”
Although the initiative is only a week old, it has raised over US $21,200, which is equivalent to providing over 78 million meals, and donations continue to rise from inside and outside the UAE.
During the height of the Black Lives Matter protests in the United States last year, Huda Beauty donated $500,000 to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. This civil and human rights organization provides legal assistance to low-income African-Americans.
