In celebration of the official launch of the #FauxFilter Luminous Matte Liquid Concealer, the beauty mogul and past Vogue Arabia cover star opens up about all things beauty—from the summer beauty looks she’s obsessed with right now, to her top tricks to wearing concealer like a pro.
What’s your very first makeup memory?
My first beauty memory was when I was about 9 years old. I loved watching my older sister Alya do her makeup. I was so mesmerized with all the products and techniques she used, and since then, I’ve been hooked!

Concealers are finally getting the attention they deserve in the beauty world. Which are your favorite concealer trends and why?
A trend that I’m really loving right now is the snatched glam technique. It’s basically a reverse contour that you can achieve just with concealers to give your features an extra lift. This technique focuses on using concealer to add dimension and bring parts of the face forward. So, after my base, I apply concealer on the high points of my cheeks towards the outer corner of my eyes, and the outer corner of my lips in an upward motion. The result is a beautiful, lifted look that looks more subtle than classic contouring, which I love.
What are three major mistakes people make when shopping for concealer, and how would you recommend we go about finding a shade that’s the perfect fit?
I like to keep three things in mind when it comes to choosing a. concealer: texture, shade, and finish. I think those are three aspects that people often overlook. A brightening shade will cancel out any darkness and brighten your under-eye area, or any areas you would like to highlight and bring forward. Meanwhile, a concealing shade will match, or be very similar to your skin tone to give a more subtle look.
What’s your absolute favorite thing about wearing makeup?
I love makeup because of how transformational it is. Makeup allows me to be whoever I want to be, no questions asked. And that to me, is the best feeling ever!

With the summer fast approaching, how does one go about making sure their concealer stays put even on hot, humid days?
I find creasing under the eyes to be the most common concern during the summer heat, but a few simple adjustments during application can go a long way to achieve a flawlessly concealed look. One thing I recommend is to slowly build up my coverage by applying little amount where needed and letting it dry before blending away. Finally, don’t underestimate the power of powder! Over the years, you’ve become a source of major inspiration for women around the world, and your makeup hacks always get us to sit up and take notice. Can you share your top three tricks to using concealer like a pro?
Use less concealer than you would think. Because concealer brightens and adds a bit more coverage than foundation, one drop can make a big difference. For anyone with dark circles, the key is to lightly dot a brightening shade under the inner corner of the eye and to use a small dense concealer brush or sponge to blend out the product for a natural finish. The best way to hide your blemishes is to let your concealer set for a few minutes before blending. This allows you to be able to build up the coverage without it looking cakey or adding extra texture.
Lastly, what’s the one makeup look you can’t get enough of this season?
I’m super into blush draping right now. It’s the perfect makeup look for summer and I honestly can’t get enough of it. It’s feminine, chic, and very easy to achieve, especially with a dewy, cream blush like our Cheeky Tint Blush Sticks.
