Salma Hayek Debuts a Bold New Hair Look for Her Latest Project

Her glossy, deep brunette waves have likely been shown to thousands of hair stylists by eager clients over the years, but Salma Hayek’s latest ‘do was a departure from her norm. The part-Lebanese actor traded in her dark locks for something altogether different for her newest project, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival this week.

For her role in The Hummingbird Project, the 52-year-old star embraced a grey hue, as revealed in all its glory by hair stylist Jennifer Yepez on Instagram. With darker roots flowing into silvery, almost white-tipped lengths, the Mexican-born actor channeled the grey-locked trend seen across catwalks and Instagram feeds in recent years. It’s certainly a departure from her signature dark lengths, but Hayek is clearly owning it. “Thank you Salma Hayek for having me work with you on this film,” the hair stylist captioned the shots. “Can’t wait to see it and so much respect for all actors! It was freezing and brutal filming this and I am in awe of you [for] so much hard work and dedication.”

However, all is not as it seems, with the star trading in her brunette locks on a temporary basis. “It’s a wig,” Yepez told Allure this week. Indeed, Hayek sported her usual dark waves on the red carpet at TIFF this week, where she appeared alongside her The Hummingbird Project co-stars, Jesse Eisenberg and Alexander Skarsgård. Regardless, the star is still inspiring us to consider a switch to the silver side for Fall. Rihanna, Kim Kardashian West, and Lady Gaga are among the A-listers who’ve sported the hue in the past, so we’d be in very good company…
